What was the advertisement?

In a Ekatvam Campaign By Tanishq, this brand released an advertisement that showed a Muslim religion family preparing a traditional Hindu baby shower [basically a bath for the lady] for their pregnant Hindu daughter-in-law. But in the description of the video on YouTube was written that, “She is married into a family that loves her like their own child. Only for her, they go out of their way to celebrate an occasion that they usually don’t. A beautiful confluence of two different religions, traditions, cultures.”

THE PROBLEM BEGINS...

When this advertisement had gone AIR it got mixed reactions from public. One faction of the viewers thought it was a beautiful example of India’s unity and secularism, but on the other hand some people criticised it on social media and commented that “It promoted love jihad” and made #BoycottTanishq trend online on Twitter and many other social platforms and claiming that it doesn’t show the reality of interfaith marriages of India.

HOW THE BRAND TAKED THIS ISSUE:

This brand has also taken the same steps that any of other brand would do to avoid criticism and consequences. As because of the outrage people grew against this ad, Tanishq had officially removed the video of the advertisement from all their social platforms. After that many people also reacted to this action of "ad being pulled down" calling that this outrage as absurd as it was not promoting any hate but unity between religions.
